Maintaining Sanctuary in a Digital World - Just because someone wants to put a projector in the sanctuary doesn't mean the world is about to end. On the other hand, just because you've started throwing song lyrics up on a screen doesn't mean people are going to start beating down your door to see the new 'contemporary' service either. This workshop deals entirely with worship, the emergence of the "Emergent" church and taking the tools of multimedia technology and creating multi-sensory worship experiences.
Technology in Ministry - Often accompaning the Maintaining Sanctuary workshop, this workshop takes a practical look at technology and communication trends surrounding ministry. So if you want to understand communication trends of the different generations walking around today, what the deal is about social networks and blogging or you just want to know what the heck an iPhone is, this is the workshop for you.
Outreach as Advertising - Let's face it, most churches don't have an advertising budget. But many do have a budget for outreach. What if the two could become synomomous? What if you could make a difference in someone's life while getting the word out about your beautiful worship community? This workshop is based around taking a grassroots approach to marketing your ministry. I know I know, nobody likes the idea of 'marketing God'. It seems irreverent if done poorly. Don't worry...we agree. We examine individual community needs and work to establish outreach ideas that open up opportunities for people to get involved.
Igniting Ministry - The official advertising and welcoming campaign of the United Methodist Church. Billy is one of their national trainers and would love to come share the promise of open hearts - open minds - open doors. Organism - Imagine for a moment, that the church was more like an 'organism' than an 'organization'. We have news for you. It is. Organism deals with treating this thing we call 'church' as a living breathing thing. There are things you can do to keep it healthy and there are things you can do to make it sick.
